Dedham Hall

Enjoy painting in the tranquil surroundings of Constable country. As well as being a painter’s paradise the vale of Dedham has many attractive walks. The picturesque villages of Kersey and Lavenham are nearby. Dedham Hall is set in six acres of ground.

The course covers techniques and materials with a view to improving your painting.

I welcome beginners as well as the more experienced painter. There is a large studio in the grounds in which you will be able to work or watch a demonstration on oil, acrylic or watercolour in the evening.

This year, due to bad weather, we spent three days based around the studio which proved to be very valuable in that I could set exercises for those that wanted to take part. Also I was able to give more one to one tuition and more quick demos. Everyone agreed that it had been worthwhile. We were still able to go to Pin Mill where most people managed to complete a painting, putting into practice things they had learnt earlier in the week.

This was one of the exercises - to paint a picture using just

Black, Red & Yellow Ochre & White (no Blue).

The group were amazed at the range of colours they were able to achieve
